Privacy Policy

What we collect

  • Account details: your email address and name, via Supabase authentication (email/password or Google sign-in).
  • Your projects and edits are stored locally in your browser (IndexedDB and localStorage), not on our servers. Clearing site data removes them.
  • Usage data: exports used, plan, and (only if you accept the analytics banner) product events such as "video uploaded" or "export completed" via PostHog. No ad trackers.
  • Error reports: when something breaks, technical details (error message, browser, page) may be sent to Sentry so we can fix it.
  • Payment details are processed by Razorpay. We never see or store card numbers.

Your video and audio

  • To generate captions, the audio of your video is sent to our transcription providers: Sarvam AI (speech-to-text, translation) and ElevenLabs (word-level alignment).
  • When you export with a cloud renderer, the video file is uploaded to our storage on Amazon Web Services (Mumbai region) and rendered there.
  • Uploaded files and rendered exports are deleted automatically within 7 days.
  • We do not train models on your content, and we never share or publish it.

Who we share data with

  • We do not sell your data. We share it only with processors the product needs to run: Supabase (auth and database), Amazon Web Services (storage and rendering), Sarvam AI and ElevenLabs (transcription), Railway (export rendering), Razorpay (payments), PostHog (analytics, only with your consent), Sentry (error reports), and Tawk.to (the support chat widget).

Cookies and consent

  • We use cookies to keep you signed in.
  • Product analytics run only after you accept the consent banner; declining changes nothing about how the product works.
  • The support chat (Tawk.to) sets its own cookies when you open it.

Your rights

  • You can request a copy of the data we hold about you.
  • You can request deletion of your account and all associated data.
  • Email support@captik.app and we will respond within 7 business days. These rights apply under India's DPDP Act and, for EU visitors, the GDPR.

Changes to this policy

  • If we make material changes, we will notify you by email (if you have an account) at least 14 days before they take effect.
