Will the app cover your caption?
Drag the caption and see which edge it crosses on Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts, using the figures Meta and Google publish. Try it on your own frame, then take the overlay to any editor. Nothing leaves your device.

Questions
Where do these numbers come from?
From the companies. Meta’s ads guide for Reels asks you to keep about 14% of the top, 35% of the bottom and 6% on each side free of text. Google’s page on Shorts ads says to avoid the top 10%, the bottom 25% and the right 10%.
Do they apply to ordinary posts, or only ads?
Both companies publish them for ads, which carry an extra button at the bottom. Neither publishes a separate figure for ordinary posts that we could find. Treat them as the careful end of the range: a caption that clears them is safe on an ordinary post too.
Is my video uploaded?
No. The frame you pick is shown by your own browser and never leaves your device. The overlay is drawn in your browser too.
How do I use the overlay PNG?
Put it on the top track of your timeline at full size, in any editor that takes a PNG with transparency. Place your captions clear of the shaded bands, then delete or hide the overlay before you export.
Why does Captik’s own editor guide show different bands?
The Safe area guide in the Captik editor marks 12% off the top and 20% off the bottom. That is a convention for ordinary posts, looser than the ad figures here, and it is there so you can see the problem while you edit.
Want the captions done as well?
Captik writes them in Hinglish and ten Indian languages, with a Safe area guide right on the preview.
