English captions for Indian creators

Captik captions English videos with every word timed to your voice. It can also turn Hindi, Tamil, Bengali and its other languages into English captions, so a regional video can reach viewers who do not speak the language.

Free to try, no card. Any video, any size.

Where every template looks as designed

English is where every template shows its full design, because their display fonts are drawn for Latin letters: Journal’s handwriting, Blockbuster’s script, Interlock’s italic serif. Captik sends English speech to transcription with its Indian English setting.

Two ways to get English captions

  • Native Script

Three things I wish I knew sooner

Speak English and choose English as the spoken language. What you said appears word by word.

  • English Translation

Speak Hindi or any of Captik’s other languages, choose that language, then pick English Translation. Each sentence is translated and timed to when you said it, so word timing is approximate.

Worth knowing for English

  • Translate instead of filming again

A Hindi or Tamil talk can get English captions without a second take. Pick the language you spoke, choose English Translation, and export a second version for viewers outside your language.

  • Use the handwritten templates here

Journal, Scribble and Archives are drawn for Latin letters. On Indian scripts their lettering falls back to the script’s own face, so English is where they look as designed.

Templates that hold English

We drew this page’s sample line through the real caption engine in each template and kept the ones where nothing was cut and the words stayed a readable size.

Standouts in English

  • Journal

Handwriting that arrives word by word, blurring into focus.

  • Interlock

The emphasised word becomes a large italic serif, with the line fitted around it.

  • Blockbuster

A red condensed capitals run, then the rest of the line in a white script.

  • Swiss

Aura’s layout in one heavy grotesque face, words revealed as they are spoken.

  • Illusion

A big word between two small lines, with a glitch as it lands.

How to caption a English video

  1. Step 1

    Upload and choose English

Any common video format and any size. For a video in another language, choose that language and English Translation instead.

  2. Step 2

Pick a template, fix any word

Every word is timed to your voice. Change the text, drag its timing, recolour it or make it the hero of the line.

  3. Step 3

    Place it and export

Turn on Safe area and drag the caption clear of what the app covers. Export an MP4 in 9:16, 16:9, 1:1 or 4:5, or download the SRT.

Cutting in Premiere Pro, After Effects or DaVinci Resolve? The plugin lists English and puts the captions on your timeline. Check where the caption sits with the safe zone checker.

English captions, answered

Can I get English captions for a Hindi video?

Yes. Choose Hindi as the spoken language and English Translation as the writing system. Captik translates each sentence and times it to when you said it. The same works for Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil and Telugu.

Which templates work for English captions?

All of them, and English shows each one as designed: handwritten Journal, Scribble and Archives, cinematic Blockbuster and The Big Red, editorial Aura and Interlock, and the bold and clean subtitle styles.

Can I download an English SRT file?

Yes. Any video you caption can also download its captions as a standard SRT file, using your edited text and timing.

Does English work in the Premiere Pro, After Effects and Resolve plugin?

Yes. The plugin panel lists English (India), and it can also translate Hindi and other languages into English captions on your timeline.
