How Odia script looks on screen
Odia letters are built on round shapes, and most have a curved stroke across the top in place of a straight headline. The caption font’s name uses the older spelling, Noto Sans Oriya, and the same goes for the script’s code in most software, so if you search a font list for your own font, try both spellings.
In the width table Captik fits every line with, measured in Chrome on the caption fonts, one Odia letter takes 0.74 em against 0.59 em for a Latin one. The sample line on this page comes out at 0.94 of the width as the same line in Roman letters.
Noto Sans Oriya is the default. The Text tab also lists 5: Google Sans, Alkatra, Baloo Bhaina 2, Anek Odia, Noto Serif Oriya.
Three ways to write it
ଆଜି ଆମେ ପୁରୀ ବୁଲିବା
Odia script. English words you say are written in Odia script too, so the caption reads in one script.
Aaji ame Puri buliba
Odia in Roman letters, with English words kept in English, for viewers who do not read Odia script.
Today we’ll explore Puri
An English translation, timed sentence by sentence to your speech.
Worth knowing for Odia
Few fonts draw Odia, so choose early
Odia has the shortest font list of any script in the editor. If you want a particular look, settle the font first, because a font without Odia letters leaves the Odia words in Noto Sans Oriya whatever you pick.
Edit in the browser if you cut in Premiere
The desktop plugin does not list Odia yet. Caption and style the video in the web editor, export the MP4 or the SRT there, and bring that file into your timeline.
Templates that hold Odia
We drew this page’s sample line through the real caption engine in each template and kept the ones where nothing was cut and the words stayed a readable size. Handwritten and serif templates are built around Latin letters, so they look most like themselves in Roman captions.

- Captik Glow
The key word lands in large glowing capitals under a small line of context.
How to caption a Odia video
Upload and choose Odia
Any common video format and any size. Captik times each word to your voice, usually in under a minute.
Choose how to write it
Native Script gives you Odia script. Romanised (Latin) spells it in Roman letters, and English Translation translates each sentence.
Fix, place and export
Correct any word, pick a template, turn on Safe area and drag the caption clear of what the app covers, then export. The render happens on our servers, so it works from a phone.
The desktop plugin does not list Odia yet, so caption it in the web editor and take the MP4 or SRT into your timeline. Check where the caption sits with the safe zone checker.
Odia captions, answered
Can I caption Odia in the Premiere Pro, After Effects or Resolve plugin?
Not yet. The plugin panel’s language list does not include Odia, so caption Odia videos in the web editor and export them from there, as an MP4 or an SRT file.
Can I export Odia captions from my phone?
Yes. Odia captions render on Captik’s servers, which load Noto Sans Oriya, so the file comes out the same from a phone or a computer.
Are English words written in Odia script?
With Native Script selected, yes. Choose Romanised (Latin) if you want English words to stay in English letters.
Can I edit the Odia text after transcription?
Yes. Tap any word to retype it, drag its timing, recolour it or make it the emphasised word. When you correct a single word, Captik remembers the fix on that device for your later Odia videos.
