How Devanagari looks on screen
Marathi is written in Devanagari, the same script as Hindi, with letters such as ळ that standard Hindi rarely uses. The shared script is why the spoken language matters more than the script: Captik draws both in Noto Sans Devanagari, but it transcribes Marathi as Marathi only if you say so.
In the width table Captik fits every line with, measured in Chrome on the caption fonts, one Marathi letter takes 0.79 em against 0.59 em for a Latin one. The sample line on this page comes out at 0.92 of the width as the same line in Roman letters.
Noto Sans Devanagari is the default. The Text tab also lists 21: Teko, Google Sans, Kalam, Baloo 2, Yatra One, Modak, Sarpanch, Tillana, Mukta, Hind, Rajdhani, Khula, Biryani, Palanquin Dark, Anek Devanagari, Rozha One, Eczar, Martel, Noto Serif Devanagari, Amita, Alkatra.

Worth knowing for Marathi
Pick Marathi yourself on mixed clips
Marathi and Hindi share many words and the same script. Naming the language takes a second and removes the guess, and it is easier than redoing a transcript.
Look for ळ and the Marathi “ऱ”
These are the letters that tell a Marathi reader the caption was written for them. If a word that should carry ळ comes out with ल, fix it once and the correction stays for your later Marathi videos on that device.
Templates that hold Marathi
We drew this page’s sample line through the real caption engine in each template and kept the ones where nothing was cut and the words stayed a readable size. Handwritten and serif templates are built around Latin letters, so they look most like themselves in Roman captions.

Marathi captions, answered
Marathi and Hindi share a script. Does it matter which I choose?
Yes. The spoken language decides how Captik transcribes the audio, so choose Marathi for Marathi speech. Both come out in Devanagari if you pick Native Script.
Are the Hindi fonts in the editor usable for Marathi?
Yes, because both use Devanagari: the Text tab files them together under one हिन्दी · मराठी chip. Check a few words with ळ before you commit to a display font.
Are English words written in Devanagari?
With Native Script selected, yes, so the caption stays in one script. Choose Romanised (Latin) to keep English words in English letters.
Does Marathi work in the Premiere Pro, After Effects and Resolve plugin?
Yes. Marathi is on the plugin panel’s language list, with native, Roman and English options.
